The Service Delivery Directorate is currently seeking an Environmental Health Specialist in Housing Enforcement working as part of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to the delivery of the Council’s Health & Wellbeing strategy.

This role will be to provide specialist advice regarding legislative matters and best practice on a range of housing enforcement, HMO’s and licencing matters, particularly in relation to the upcoming extension of the mandatory HMO licensing scheme. This role will be key in supporting teams across the council, including Case Management and Local Area Services.

You will need to be educated to A Level standard as a minimum. A Degree/ Diploma or relevant post graduate qualification in environmental health or related subject would be advantageous as would membership of relevant professional body. Candidates should demonstrate experience within a housing enforcement environment or similar.

You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience of dealing with other professionals and members of the public in person and on the telephone. You will also be required to demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm, even when the pressure of workload is high.
