Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP) is four years into the delivery of the Big Lottery’s 10 year “ A Better Start “ programme which aims to improve the lives of children through radically changing the way that we work with pregnant mothers, fathers, babies, their families and communities. By drawing on the best evidence for interventions in diet and nutrition, social and emotional development and communication and language, LEAP is working across the whole early year’s sector in Lambeth.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the LEAP programme of work in Lambeth and is critical to driving lasting change on this exciting project working alongside food businesses, local enterprise, families, communities, and voluntary organisations supporting LEAP’s ambitions for lasting systems change.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with colleagues in the Council, Public Health and across the LEAP partnership to support local businesses as part of addressing the wider food environment and promoting health and wellbeing
  • Establishing links with communities in the LEAP area to provide advice and guidance on how to influence and shape the wider food environment. This will be particularly in relation to how communities encourage local businesses to be health promoting through the provision of healthier food and drink options; as well as advice on safe and sustainable approaches to food growing, food production and food waste within the community.

Working with colleagues in the business, statutory and community sectors to ensure strong partnerships and connections to support sharing of good practice and opportunities to provide healthier food and drink options; as well as effectively deliver other related health and wellbeing initiatives in the LEAP areas. The role will be based in Lambeth Food Health and Safety Team.
