Property Standards Officer

£24,392 - 27,917

This is an exciting time to join the Housing service at Worcester City Council. We are expanding our Private Sector Team to include a new Property Standards Officer aimed at investigating mandatory and additionally unlicenced Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO’s), bringing empty properties back into use and investigating property standards complaints. As well as any related enforcement actions required.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, organised and flexible individual to join our team, providing specialist and technical knowledge to help deliver a high quality customer service.
You will work within the busy Private Sector Team, delivering a proactive and reactive investigative service, which will be key to the Council’s success in tackling rogue landlords. You will be experienced in partnership working and be able to effectively communicate policies, legislation and Council requirements to a broad range of customers.

You will have experience of HMO licencing, formal enforcement action and be competent in using HHSRS. You must have a detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 as well as other relevant housing legislation.

The role will be based at offices in the centre of Worcester, but much of your work will be conducted in customers’ homes or other locations, meaning that the ability to travel within Worcester and, at times, outside the city, is essential. You must also have excellent IT and organisational skills to enable you to maintain a high level of customer service and efficiency whilst working from different locations. You must also have a commitment to adopting safe risk assessment and lone working practices, in accordance with Council policy and procedure.

In return we can offer you a dynamic working environment, opportunities for training and development, flexible working hours and a minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

Closing date: 27 May 2018
