Housing Enforcement Officer
Location: Wakefield One, PO Box 700, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2EB
Salary: Grade 9 (£30,153 - £32,486) 37 hours per week.
Wakefield Council is expanding its approach to improving the private rented sector and has created three new posts.
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to work with the existing small team of officers who are currently delivering our private rented improvement and enforcement functions. All the posts are based at Wakefield One, Burton St, Wakefield WF1 2EB.

Senior Officer HMO licensing and Enforcement (permanent post):
Following a rise in the number of HMOs over the last decade, and in preparation for new licensing legislation in October there is a chance to join the Housing Standards team with work focussing on HMOs. This post will target those that require a license along with bringing non licensable HMOs up to standard.
Housing Standards Improvement and Enforcement Officer (permanent post):
We have an opportunity to join our Housing Standards team in improving the homes of people living in private sector accommodation, by giving advice, conducting detailed inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action using a wide range of relevant legislation. The work will involve addressing the findings of our house conditions survey and will focus proactively on locations within the district.
Housing Enforcement Officer (2 year contract):
We have a small dedicated team of officers working in a specific area which has a diverse and often changing community cross section. The post holder will be required to work with tenants and landlords to improve the standards of privately rented properties including the assessment and licensing of HMOs.
