Wakefield Council is expanding its approach to improving the private rented sector and has created three new posts.

If you think you are one of these people you can apply for one or all of the posts.

Senior Officer HMO licensing and Enforcement (permanent post):

Following a rise in the number of HMOs over the last decade, and in preparation for new licensing legislation in October there is a chance to join the Housing Standards team with work focussing on HMOs. This post will target those that require a license along with bringing non licensable HMOs up to standard.

Housing Standards Improvement and Enforcement Officer (permanent post):

We have an opportunity to join our Housing Standards team in improving the homes of people living in private sector accommodation, by giving advice, conducting detailed inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action using a wide range of relevant legislation. The work will involve addressing the findings of our house conditions survey and will focus proactively on locations within the district.

Housing Enforcement Officer (2 year contract):

We have a small dedicated team of officers working in a specific area which has a diverse and often changing community cross section. The post holder will be required to work with tenants and landlords to improve the standards of privately rented properties including the assessment and licensing of HMOs.

The closing date for all the posts is 27/04/2018 and if you want an informal discussion please contact either Jim Goldthorpe or Gary Radford in Strategic Housing on 01924 306665.
