Role overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a department that is committed to service delivery and helping to shape the future of the borough. This opportunity will suit an experienced Environmental Health Officer who has worked previously within the job roles of Environmental Protection and Private Sector Housing. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated person with the ability to achieve targets and work in a team.

Key responsibilities

Day to day responsibilities will include the investigation of a variety of service requests such as noise complaints, air quality related issues, housing disrepair in privately rented properties and private drainage problems. You will be maintaining a case load and accurate records as well as taking enforcement action that could include serving statutory legal notices or taking prosecutions where appropriate  

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as the ability to give specialist and technical advice, guidance and assistance within the subject matter of Environmental Health. 
  • To be confident in dealing with the public, carrying out investigations and drafting reports and legal notices as well as maintaining detailed case files. You will also be able to prioritise and organize your workload and have good IT skills.
