The posts are temporary for 2 years starting from September 2018

We are seeking two enthusiastic officers to become part of our new Selective Licensing Team to ensure all private rented homes within Netherfield are licensed and comply with minimum legal standards. This role is initially on a 2 year contract, but could become permanent should the scheme expand into other areas.

You will be responsible for inspecting rented homes, drafting and issuing licences as well as offering advice to landlords to comply with their legal obligations and where necessary taking appropriate enforcement action. You will also assist with the private sector housing functions of the service.

Knowledge of private sector housing enforcement methods, legislation, regulations and codes of practice is essential.  Knowledge of issuing licences in private sector housing is desirable. This post is full-time and would be suitable for experienced officers or graduates seeking Local Authority experience.  The post holder will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
