£38,031 - £40,411 per annum

Eastleigh Borough Council is an ambitious and progressive council. We are recognised for our innovation and achievements, whilst delivering high-quality service to our customers and the community. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Specialist to join the Service Delivery directorate working within our Economy unit.

Acting as Food Lead & Lead Health & Safety Officer, you will assume responsibility for the investigation of more serious food hygiene and health and safety work (up to and including the production of prosecution reports) and balance Primary Authority work with meeting our food hygiene inspection programme.

You will also be responsible for developing workflow plans for this work, with careful consideration being given to officers’ ongoing support, training and development needs.

We are looking for candidates who hold a degree or equivalent in Environmental Health and are EHRB registered. A NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent would be a significant advantage. You will need to have demonstrable experience of conducting inspections and investigations, with an excellent grasp of food and health and safety legislation.

You will have excellent communication skills, preparing and presenting reports to Council committees and other internal/external meetings, dealing with members of the public, engaging with other agencies and stakeholders and supporting existing and new business partners. As some travel will be required for this role, a full, clean driving licence is required.

If you are excited by this opportunity, are highly organised, positive and have a commercial awareness that allows you to develop excellent business opportunities and relationships, we would love to hear from you.

At Eastleigh, we are inclusive, innovative and enjoyable; we support employees in maintaining work/life balance through our flexitime system and offer opportunities for career progression and development. Our benefits are wide-ranging, including a generous pension scheme.

If you would like to have an informal discussion regarding these opportunities, please contact Camilla Sharp on 023 8068 8268.
