In Northampton, we have completely transformed the way in which we tackle criminal, rogue and irresponsible landlords who knowingly rent out accommodation that is unlicensed, substandard or unsafe.

Our cutting edge, intelligence-led, risk-based, multi-agency approach to housing enforcement (and our development of our Officers as trained investigators) is turning heads and getting results. We are expanding our Housing Enforcement Team to make effective use of our powers under the Housing and Planning Act 2016.

We are now looking to appoint 4 highly-motivated, professionally curious Environmental Health Officers / Housing Enforcement Officers who have the skills and qualities needed to make optimum use of civil penalties, rent repayment orders and licensing fees to improve conditions and encourage positive behaviour change.

To meet the requirements of this exciting role, you must have a good working knowledge of private sector housing enforcement and proven experience of developing and sustaining effective working relationships.

We will also consider newly qualified EHOs or applicants who have worked in an environmental health regulatory setting with transferrable skills who can demonstrate the competencies and behaviours it takes to be an excellent investigator.

If you want to be at the forefront of modern housing enforcement, and to make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives, we would be delighted to hear from you.
