Our client in South London is recruiting for an Air Quality Monitoring Senior Environmental Protection Officer to work within the Environmental Protection team.

 

 

 

You will need to have experience of air quality, pollution prevention and general environmental protection matters. You will be a strong team player with a positive outlook.

 

 

 

Our client has a strong emphasis on training and development through external courses and internal peer lead training.

 

 

 

Duties

 

To deal with matters relating to ( but not limited to ) noise, contaminated land, air pollution, dark smoke and smoke control, statutory nuisance, visual disamenity, fly tipping ,abandoned vehicles , fly posting, drainage, environmental crime, welfare burials and exhumations, dog control, pest control enforcement , accumulations, drainage, filthy and verminous premises. Working closely with the public, proprietors etc to resolve complaints and nuisances, and with colleagues such as planning services to ensure suitable proactive measures are incorporated in future developments.

 

 

 

Gathering information/evidence as required, advising the team leader on enforcement options, serving notices, and producing prosecution files and appearing in courts as a witness where necessary.

 

 

 

To keep up to date with all relevant legislation, best practice and new initiatives relevant to environmental health and specifically environmental protection.

 

 

 

Requirements

 

 

 

  1. Strong communicator oral and written.

Strong people & interpersonal skills. Able to work with a diverse range of people. Strong organisational skills & effective time management . Good level of computer literacy. Evidence of successful partnership management. Evidence of financial management skills. Effective project management. High standard of education (HNC) Degree level or equivalent. Diploma In Acoustics or equivalent. Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and obtained registration with EHORB. Current driving licence or the ability to make suitable alternative arrangements Knowledge and experience of environmental protection matters in particular noise.
