Here at Barrow Borough Council we look after our employees and offer a place where people are proud to live and work. A better quality of life.
We are looking for a professionally qualified and skilled officer who is competent and confident in the areas of Commercial Services. You will be responsible for the monitoring and enforcement of standards in a wide range of activities including food safety, port health, health and safety, infectious disease and licensing. You will be expected to manage a diverse caseload, serve legal notices and carry out prosecutions where necessary. You will be a fully qualified EHO with at least three years’ post qualification experience in food safety, health and safety and infectious disease work. You will possess robust and up to date knowledge in all of these areas, be able to demonstrate excellent people, performance and resource management skills. You must also have the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide information, advice and instruction in accurate spoken English.
You will be managing and supporting our dedicated team in their increasingly busy and demanding day to day duties; managing a practical personal workload and assisting the Public Protection Manager in the supervision, management and development of the service.
To be successful, you will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic team player, possessing excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills. This post is ideal for someone looking to progress their career, with full support and training provided.
We need a manager who can innovate and develop service delivery to enable the Council to meet its public protection responsibilities against a background of increasingly demanding resource pressures. We are transforming our services to be more efficient and business-like and need your help to drive this forward. Our new structure takes effect from 1st April 2018.
