The Service Delivery Directorate is currently seeking an Environmental Health Specialist in Disabled Facilities Grants/Housing Enforcement working as part of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to the delivery of the Council’s Health & Wellbeing strategy.

This role will be primarily to support the Senior Specialist in provision of legislative and best practice advice and action on a range of housing enforcement, empty properties, HMOs and Caravan Site licencing matters, as well as other more general Environmental Health issues. This role will also provide additional support in the provision of the Disabled Facilities Grants Service.

This role will be key in supporting teams across the council, including Case Management and Mobile Locality.

You will need to be educated to A Level standard or possess equivalent experience. A Degree/ Diploma or relevant postgraduate qualification in environmental health or a related subject would be advantageous, as would membership of a relevant professional body. Relevant working experience in housing and in an enforcement role is a requirement.

You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have experience of dealing with other professionals and members of the public in person and on the telephone. You will also be required to demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm, even when the pressure of workload is high.
