Senior/Environmental Health Officer (Food & Safety) x2

£24,964 - £37,306 pa plus £3,212 market supplement

Full time, 37 hours per week • Permanent

Ref: ENV0852

Due to an increase of our Primary Authority business partners and the growing number of food businesses within Reading we are in the enviable position of expanding our Food & Safety Team.

We are seeking ambitious and motivated officers who will be responsible for investigating routine enquiries, carrying out inspections as well as helping us to advance our highly successful Primary Authority Partnerships.

You will be qualified to enforce food and ideally health and safety legislation, be an excellent communicator and have great negotiation skills. Experience of reviewing policy/procedure documents would also be helpful but this can be developed as part of your Primary Authority Partner training.  You will also be given the opportunity to develop and lead on a specialist topic area as well as participate in teaching our popular level 2 food hygiene course.

Ideally, you will already possess the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) certificate and preferably have some experience of working in a Food Team.

We also however welcome applications from newly qualified officers who can embark on our structured career progression pathway. If you are not yet registered with EHRB you can join us as a Technical Officer which carries a salary of £23,398 - £32,486 pa.

We offer

  • Payment of professional fees.
  • Flexible working scheme allowing you opportunity to work from home or the office and carry out work at a mutually convenient time.
  • Structured training programme bespoke to your needs as well as the demands of the service.
  • A pleasant and friendly working environment.
  • Access to key worker accommodation.
