Hackney Council is looking for an experienced Food Safety professional to work with businesses in the borough.

As Business Standards Officer (Environmental Health), you will be developing a business and community partnership approach to our work. As well as being responsible for updating our standard operating procedures, to ensure our practices are reflective of current trends and guidance.

We need someone with experience carrying out inspections and investigations. Someone with an in-depth understanding of how Environmental Health Law applies to commercial premises. You should have experience dealing with a variety of local authority processes including food safety, health and safety, public health and nuisance issues.

To thrive in this role, you need to be able to form productive working relationships with our diverse communities. You will be dealing with sensitive issues and should strive to increase understanding of our work as well as our service standards. You must have experience working on complex cases and be used to preparing prosecution cases, briefing Counsel and attending court as needed.

You should hold a Higher Certificate in Food Control (with Food Standards Agency endorsement) or equivalent. You must also be committed to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with any legislative changes and best practice. Ideally you will also have a full, clean, driving licence.
