Appointment Type: Permanent, Full time

The post is offered as a two-tier career grade post with the starting salary being dependant on skills and experience.
We are seeking a competent, professional with experience in Environmental Health or Housing Standards to join our busy residential team. We work as a shared service across Kingston and Sutton and deal with all aspects of residential environmental health. A typical day could see you dealing with housing standards, public health problems, noise or environmental nuisance, HMO licensing (including an additional licensing scheme); or working with some of our partners to tackle poor housing standards, fire safety, anti-social behaviour and fuel poverty.

As a high performing, front-line service we are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative officer who will look to challenge conventional ways of delivering services and provide solutions for the benefit of our residents. We would expect you to be flexible in your approach, a good communicator and have the ability to work on your own initiative as well as being part of the team. Experience with either Civica APP or Idox Uniform software is desirable. While the experience of enforcing private sector housing standards and HHSRS training or residential nuisance is desirable, consideration will be given to those who are recently qualified or have relevant other experience.

While there is a need for flexibility, there is no requirement to work unsocial hours, but there is an out of hours noise service for which additional payment is given should you wish to participate. In return, we offer a supportive friendly environment with a varied workload and a commitment to personal development to enable you to fulfil your potential.

The Royal Borough of Kingston and London Borough of Sutton are key partners and have adopted an approach based on strategic collaboration. This has already resulted in a number of shared services including ICT and this Environment Service, and further opportunities are being explored. The Shared Service operates from both council offices and you may be expected to work in either borough but would have a primary base in Kingston.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Fiona Meads, Team Leader on 020 8770 5935 or Austen Lucas, Lead Officer on 020 8770 5583

Advert Closing date: 29/01/2018
Proposed interview date(s): 20/02/2018 and 21/02/2018
