We are looking for an Environmental Protection professional to work in the Service Delivery Directorate to support the delivery of an Environmental Protection Service for the Borough.
It is essential to have experience and knowledge of protection issues including contaminated land, air pollution, nuisance notices and prosecutions, environmental permitting, statutory licencing and public health issues. Knowledge of related legislation, practices and methodologies together with experience in providing consultee advice on planning applications, and acting as an expert witness in legal proceedings is also essential. You will be educated to A ‘Level standard and preferably hold a relevant graduate qualification in Environmental Health. Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards membership is desirable.
The candidate must be proficient in the analysis of complex data and have a willingness to learn new ways of working as well as good investigative skills and the resilience to see through enforcement actions across a wide range of issues when needed. You must possess excellent communication skills, and have experience of dealing with developers, other EH professionals, Councillors and members of the public in person and on the telephone.
