Buckingham Futures have an exciting opportunity in Sussex for an Environmental Health Officer / Private Sector Housing Officer to carry out inspections, re-inspections and surveys relative to private sector housing for 3 days per week.

You will be required to prepare and serve Statutory Notices and take enforcement action in line with the Councils strategy and on a regular basis you will be required to report and/or advise where statutory action is not appropriate and to initiate prosecutions for failure to comply with statutory instruments.

To apply for this role you will need to have significant work experience in the field and an excellent working knowledge of current legislation relevant to work in this profession.

You will need to be able to confidently and competently manage a busy case load and make informed decisions on action to be taken; good communication skills are essential. The suitable person would be an experienced and competent environmental health officer specialising in housing, who can drive, and access to own car.

The role will be offered for a minimum of 3 months and the rate on offer is negotiable.

You must hold the HHSRS certificate, have a UK driving licence and have your own car.
