We are looking to recruit an Environmental Health Officer to work within the Pollution Team, in relation to Noise Complaints, nuisance, licence applications and planning consultations. 

Role Purpose 

Tower Hamlets is a fascinating borough, a multi-cultural community steeped in history. The contrasts and challenges in Environmental Health range from the past historical land uses to the current construction and operation of developments being undertaken in the Borough. The team manages and delivers on award winning projects and is required given the considerable regeneration in the area to provide first class advice and guidance to residents in respect both residential and construction noise as well as licensing issues (TEN's etc) and supporting planning directorate to ensure noise mitigation is at forefront of planning consideration. 

The Noise Team is based within the newly created Environmental Health and Trading Standards team and is able to draw on resources and expertise across the Service. You will assist us in working closely with all noise officers/ licensing team and Planning Officers where appropriate . 

We are able to offer a 35 hour week with flexi-time, structured training opportunities (CPD), excellent salaries an additional car user allowance, advisory and enforcement work and a maximum of 6 weeks paid leave a year. Key Responsibilities 

You will if possible possess an IoA Diploma in Acoustics or other relevant qualification in acoustics or noise control or be able to show evidence of knowledge and experience within this aspect of work whilst taking the lead for delivering the 

commitments of the council within all relevant aspects of work and providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues and residents. 

You will also have a proven record of effective decision making, in particular as regards the management of risks concerning case management and extensive experience of providing noise and licensing advice to officers in other directorates. 

You will be working in a multi-skilled team dealing with noise residential and construction, licensing and planning or other areas within Environmental Health as determined by line management 

You will be self-motivated and will be able to operate across a range of different teams and Council Services. 

Requirements 

You must have: 

· Experience of providing detailed noise advice to residents, colleagues and affected parties 

· Experience of preparing prosecutions 

· Experience of dealing with licensing and TEN's applications 

· Experience of managing noise with an understanding of acoustics and whilst not essential credit will be provided for candidates who possess a Masters, Degree or Diploma in acoustics
