Enforcement Officer (Environmental Health)
Enforcement Officer (Environmental Health)
Department: Customer Fulfilment – Regulatory Services
Salary Details: £37,116 to £40,164
About The Role
As an ambitious, visionary and entrepreneurial council we are looking for a qualified Environmental Health professional to join our established and friendly team. You should be an innovative thinker, willing to challenge the norm and be open to change.
You will have a Level 6 qualification in Environmental Health and hold a registration with the EHRB. You must also meet the current Food Standards Agency requirements to undertake food enforcement activities.
Working as part of a small team of multi-disciplinary environmental health and planning enforcement officers you will cover a broad range of environmental health functions within an area covering half of Aylesbury Vale. This role is suited to someone who will enjoy the variety of work and challenge that a generalist role provides.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who possesses excellent communication and negotiation skills. A high level of responsibility will be reflected by your ability to work independently and to manage a complex case load, regularly reviewing and prioritising as necessary. You will be an effective problem solver, able to make decisions and see them through to delivery.
In return we offer a flexible working environment and further development opportunities to extend your existing skill set (training will be provided to support development where applicants have previously worked in a specialist role).
Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) spans the northern half of Buckinghamshire and our offices are located in Aylesbury about 40 miles north west of London with direct rail links in to Marylebone.
AVDC covers the second largest local authority geographic area in England and has one of the highest housing growth rates in the UK, being located just outside the green belt. Our Local Plan is scheduled for approval by Council this summer and makes provision for over 30,000 additional houses in the Vale. On top of the opportunities that this growth represents we also have a number of challenging and interesting national infrastructure projects on our doorstep:
- We are located in the East-West Oxford Cambridge growth corridor with the new Oxford Cambridge rail link passing through our area.
- We have one of the longest stretches of the HS2 High Speed rail link passing through the Vale with all the challenges and opportunities that presents
- Aylesbury has been nominated for Garden City status and planning for that development is currently underway.
