Environmental Health Officer (Student Placement)

Position: Student Environmental Health Officer

Location: Milton Park, Oxfordshire

Job Type: Full Time, 12 months fixed term Contract

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £20,578 per annum

About the role:

They have a vacancy for a Student Environmental Health Officer who is looking for a placement to complete their practical experience to fulfil the requirements of the Experiential Learning Portfolio or Portfolio of Professional Practice.

Responsibilities:

- Accompany professional staff on their day to day duties on a rota basis

- Carry out inspections of premises, investigations, and write reports etc. under supervision of senior staff members

- Carry out unsupervised visits, etc. commensurate with experience

- Opportunity to get involved in promotional activities and project work

About you:

- Currently studying for, or passed, an accredited BSc / MSc degree course in Environmental Health

- Full driving licence and access to own transport

- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to research subjects and collate information

- Basic level of computer literacy including word processing and data input

- Theoretical knowledge of environmental health enforcement and public health interventions with regard to the principles of risk assessment

- Ability to interpret statistical data (e.g. sampling results, scientific reports etc)

- Able to travel throughout the district and work outside normal working hours where required
