Environmental Health Officer / Senior Technical Officer

Salary details: SO2 - £28,485 to £30,153

Employer: Leeds City Council

Contract Type: Permanent Appointment

Hours per Week: 37

Closing date: 06 October 2017

We are seeking to recruit a qualified Environmental Health Officer to complement our multi-skilled environmental health team. We are looking for people who can engage with communities and businesses and have a real passion for improving public health and protecting the environment.

You can expect a mix of casework, projects and to be responsible for taking appropriate enforcement action. Work areas include food safety, health & safety, health protection, nuisance investigations and pollution control.

You should possess excellent communication skills and have experience in managing a busy caseload. Whilst you should be able to interpret policy, technical guidance and legislation, a significant proportion of our work involves advice and guidance, so it’s important that you have good influencing skills and can think laterally to resolve problems.

The successful applicant should have the ability to build effective working relationships and demonstrate a commitment to reducing health inequalities.

You should be a qualified Environmental Health Officer or equivalent holding an EHRB Certificate of Registration. Post graduate experience and a qualification in one of the team disciplines would be an advantage, but applications are also welcomed from recently qualified Environmental Health Practitioners.

We can offer a wide range of experience and challenges to the successful applicant. Leeds City Council is an employer which values, supports and encourages the development of its employees.

Working hours are the standard 37 hours per week with the requirement to work flexible hours occasionally to meet service requirements.
