Tower Hamlets is a fascinating borough, a multi-cultural community steeped in history. The contrasts and challenges in Environmental Health range from the past historical land uses to the current construction and operation of developments being undertaken in the Borough. The team manages and delivers on award winning projects and is required given the considerable regeneration in the area to provide first class advice and guidance to applicants for planning and planning directorate to ensure noise mitigation is at forefront of consideration.

The Noise Team is based within the newly created Environmental Health and Trading Standards team and is able to draw on resources and expertise across the Service.

You will assist us in working closely with noise officers and Planning Officers within Development Management,

You should possess an IoA Diploma in Acoustics or other relevant qualification in acoustics or noise control and take the lead for the team to deliver the commitments of the council to appraise planning applications providing expert advice and guidance.

With a proven record of effective decision making,  in particular as regards the management of risks concerning case management and extensive experience of providing expert/specialist noise advice to planning teams and consultants.

You will be working in a multi-skilled team dealing with noise, construction planning and other areas of Environmental Health as determined by line management

As the ideal individual you will be self-motivated and will be able to operate across a range of different teams and Council Services. You will be the Teams main regulatory Officer for providing planning advice

We are able to offer a 35 hour week with flexi-time (a maximum of two ‘flexi’ days can be taken in a four week period), structured training opportunities (CPD), excellent salaries an additional car user allowance, advisory and enforcement work and a maximum of 6 weeks paid leave a year

You will able to take part in the Council's flexi time scheme.

You must have:

  • experience of providing detailed noise advice on a range of planning applications
  • a degree or diploma in Environmental Health
  • a Masters, Degree or Diploma in acoustics.
