Manchester is at the heart of the regional economy and the city centre alone attracts 2.5 million visitor a year. It has a strong cultural offer, a vibrant night time economy and is also home to c25,000 residents within the inner core. Managing such a successful city centre and the wider neighbourhoods is a key priority for the Council and we are looking for 2 Compliance Team Leaders to work closely with partners to ensure that residents, visitors and businesses all play their part in keeping the city safe, clean and compliant for all to enjoy. The service operates over 24 hours so you will need to be able to work shifts. 

You will be an excellent communicator, skilled in partnership working and bringing diverse parties together to achieve common goals. You will be a strong people manager who is comfortable with matrix management and leading multidisciplinary teams. You will be flexible and used to working without close supervision in a fast paced environment and able to think on your feet. 

You will be part of the Community Safety, Compliance and Enforcement Service which sits within the Growth and Neighbourhoods Directorate . Your will report to the Neighbourhood Manager Compliance and work closely with the other Team Leads jointly managing a team of staff working a shift system that covers days and nights over 7 days per week. You will be responsible for enforcement of premises licensing, commercial and domestic waste, commercial and domestic noise, peddling and street trading, buskers and a general focus on taking ownership of all issues that are impacting negatively on the city such as begging and rough sleeping and helping to resolve them. This will involve working closely with council colleagues such as the Rough Sleepers Team and ASB team and partners such as GMP.
