Our client in West London is recruiting for an Emergency Management and Response Officer to assist the Emergency Management & Response Manager in the provision of effective and efficient Emergency Management and Response functions. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the work of maintaining and updating the Council's contingency plans in accordance with current legislation and government guidance and to support the Emergency Management & Response Manager in organising the training exercising of Local Authority employees to test all aspects of the Authority's emergency response arrangements. To control and maintain equipment specifically provided and designated for use in an emergency.
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
An Emergency Planning qualification or willingness to study
Evidence of CPD
Experience of delivering training, ideally concerning emergency management procedures.
Experience in writing emergency plans
Experience in project management
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
An understanding of the Emergency Management / Civil Protection Landscape in London and across the United Kingdom
A comprehensive understanding of Risk Management and its application in respect of the Civil Contingencies Act
Ability to undertake reviews and training to ensure that legislation is being met at a local level, at direction of Emergency Management and Response Manager.
Ability to manage with confidence the Emergency Response Officers ensuring that all tasks within an emergency are conducted in a logical and ordered fashion.
Ability to think and act on own initiative, making decisions on behalf of the council during an emergency as required.
Able to work to resolve conflict and be able to motivate and influence and gain information from personnel both colleagues and customers.
Have a high degree of awareness of the council policies as they refer to the functions performed within the Emergency Response service
Ability to gain credibility quickly and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
Competent user of standard ICT packages and service specific software.
Experience of delivering presentations, training and awareness across a variety of audiences.
