The Royal Borough is diverse, steeped in history and enjoys international focus with events like the Tall Ships Regatta along the River Thames and the London O2 Arena offering world class entertainment. We are trialling driverless vehicles and all this while experiencing exceptional commercial and residential regeneration.

We are seeking an exceptional team manager with a can-do attitude and problem solving focus.  If you join us your work will be varied and your timetable busy, we will expect you to place our customers first and aspire for a high level of customer satisfaction. In return for your skills and professionalism we offer the chance to work in a thriving and cosmopolitan London borough, professional challenges,  supervision and professional development opportunities.  You will have autonomy to manage your workload within fantastic modern open plan offices with free parking and your professional fees paid. We offer a 35 hour week and a generous flexitime system.  Flexible working patterns can be accommodated within service needs. Work outside normal office hours is integral to the role.

The team deal mostly with high profile proactive pollution control work including planning and Licensing applications (responsible authority), environmental permitting, contaminated land, air quality and construction hours/conditions. There is some reactive complaint work. Improving Air Quality is a cabinet priority with strong member engagement. We have achieved cleaner air borough status, there is opportunity to lead and drive forward actions under our air quality action plan and we have been awarded a Low Emission Neighbourhood project by the Mayor of London. There is lots of new development and regeneration taking place with associated input from the team including Crossrail and Tideway tunnel construction projects, and major development/infrastructure projects proposed – eg silvertown river crossing, new power station. We provide noise responsible authority input to events on Blackheath, at the O2 and other parks/public spaces.

Royal Borough of Greenwich values the diversity of its community and aims to have a workforce that reflects this. We therefore encourage applications from all sections of the community. Royal Borough of Greenwich is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
