£38,229 to £41,025 per annum

Permanent, 36 hours per week

We are looking for a keen, enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Environmental Health professional, who will complement and add value to our existing skilled workforce.

The Housing Standards Team is part of the Community Safety and Enforcement Group of our newly-formed Directorate of Place

As a Senior Environmental Health Practitioner, you would be expected to lead on complex cases concerning poor conditions in the Private Rented Sector. You would also be required to supervise and assist a team of housing enforcement officers in their day-to-day operational duties and help the manager to develop policies and procedures, in response to changes in conditions and legislation.

The role will demand a sound knowledge of Housing legislation, enforcement procedures and casework, HHSRS and guidance.

The successful applicant is likely to have worked in a local authority Environmental Health and Housing setting for at least three years, and will be able to demonstrate good knowledge and experience of associated statutory and regulatory functions.

This position requires an Environmental Health qualification (EHRB) and proof of professional requirements regarding Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is desirable. 

The post holder is required to drive in the course of their duties and the candidate must have a driving licence. This post meets the criteria for Essential Car User.

A valid driving licence and use of a car with appropriate insurance for work is advantageous for which a car user allowance is payable. Reasonable adjustments will be considered for disabled candidates.
