Environmental Health Officer (Food Safety)
PO3 - £36,912 - £39,855
Ref Number: PLA00012-1

Tower Hamlets is a fascinating borough, a multi-cultural community steeped in history.  The contrasts and challenges in food safety range from the dozens of restaurants in the 'Curry Capital' of Brick Lane to the small start-up businesses selling street-food to the high-tech, corporate world-wide financial institutions in Canary Wharf, employing thousands of people using the services that Environmental Health & Trading Standards is responsible for.

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer who is looking to use and/or gain a range of skills and experiences in the Food Safety Team.  You will help to protect the food supply chain within the Borough, carry out enforcement and advisory projects and investigate complaints. The post will be full-time and permanent.

We are able to offer a 35 hour week with flexi-time (with a maximum of 2 'flexi' days in a four-week period), structured training, opportunities for CPD, excellent salaries, an additional car user allowance plus car mileage, advisory and enforcement work and up to 6 weeks paid leave a year.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of work within the Food Safety discipline.

You will be responsible for carrying out a full range of interventions, taking part in projects, investigating complaints and preparing cases for Court.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that they use the available resources to ensure that the health, safety and welfare of residents, visitors and workers within the Borough are protected at all times.

To be a qualified Environmental Health Officer and registered with EHORB or equivalent.
