About the role 

Ensuring that standards of public health are maintained, in this role you will inspect, investigate and advise on a range of matters associated with food production, catering, hospitality and licensed premises.  Your role will involve carrying out food sampling visits and undertaking accident and infectious disease investigations as well as ensuring that our food safety, health & safety and public health systems and practices are up to date and compliant with legislation and good practice guidance.  You will support the team in developing / delivering education and public information initiatives in line with our public health and wellbeing agenda and assist in enforcement activity as necessary.  

About you 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection. A NEBOSH certificate in occupational health and safety would be an advantage, but your demonstrable knowledge of food safety legislation together with your communication / presentation skills, organisational ability and attention to detail are a must.  You will use your excellence in building effective professional relations to ensure guidance is understood and followed, and to diplomatically support enforcement activity and deliver an outstanding level of service. 

You will need to hold a current valid driving license (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act) and you must be capable of using Microsoft Office applications with experience of using databases.

East Devon District Council has decided to relocate away from its current headquarters in Sidmouth.  Some staff will relocate to Exmouth during the latter part of 2017 and others to Honiton.  The timescale for the Honiton relocation has yet to be confirmed.
